CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
ย Background of the study
Human development occurs in a continuous or parallel manner. The success of the next step will be determined by the success of the previous level. It will be difficult to attain optimal development and growth if the development process is hampered and disrupted. This implies that the idea of special needs children has a greater scope and significance than the concepts of exceptional, disabled, or disadvantaged children. Children with various abilities include both youngsters with permanent special needs as a result of particular disabilities and children with temporary diverse skills. Children with temporary different abilities are referred to as risk factors, such as those who have developmental issues that may be influenced by their future learning abilities, or those who have vulnerabilities, weaknesses, or high risks of encountering obstacles or disorders in learning or subsequent development. Children with “special needs,” often known as “children with various abilities,” are children who have faced challenges in the development of their behavior. โBehavior is all activities of an individual, small or large, that can be seen, heard, and sensed by the sense of taste in the skin, and (not in the heart) by others or selves,โ according to Handoyo (2001). Speech or voice, movements or actions in the form of irregular or irregular movements, planned or unintended, consciously or accidentally, and beneficial or useless are all examples of behavior. In some ways, the behavioral development of children with unique needs will create difficulties. Because social communication necessitates both forms of conduct. If these youngsters are not adequately cared for and treated, their learning process will be hampered.
ย Statement of research problem
The appearance of various diseases or developmental hurdles in people with special needs is a phenomenon that must be handled further so that they can continue to live a decent life and maximize any skill they have, no matter how minor. Several causes are proposed by Hadjiyiannakou, Ioannou, and Tzoigkouros (2007). First, when parents have disabled children, their family’s identities are altered, and a sense of insecurity pervades their life. Second, due of the presence of the impaired child in their home, parents have a bad energy and image, and they are quite unhappy. Third, parents have no choice and are insecure since their life’s journey is too challenging. Fourth, parents are associated with failure; they are humiliated and insecure, and they appear to be grieving at times. This is significant because every human being, regardless of their limits, has the same right to grow, develop, accept, and play their role in society. The efforts to optimize the development of adolescents with special needs are limited to providing the necessary education and training, both in terms of daily living abilities, academic materials, and work skills. However, a number of issues influence the learning of children with disabilities, including a lack of conventional schools for children with disabilities, unqualified teachers, and a lack of instructional materials, among others. The evaluation of parental involvement in the education of children with disabilities will be explored against this context.

2.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย To find out the impact of parentsโ involvement on the learning achievement of the children with disability
3.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย To find out howย parents manage children with disability in other to aid their educational achievement .
ย Research hypothesis
The following hypothesis have been formulated for this study
H01: Parentsโ involvement on education of the children with disability does not affect their ability to learn.
H02: Parents does not manage children with disability in other to aid their educational achievement
ย Significance of the study
The significance of this study cannot be underestimated as:
This study will examineย evaluation of parental involvement in the education of children with disabilities ( a case study of Jaman North District of Ghana)
lย The findings of this research work will undoubtedly provide the much needed information to government organizations, radio stations, broadcasting commission and academia.
ย Scope of the study
This study will examineย evaluation of parental involvement in the education of children with disabilities ( a case study of jaman north district of ghana)
ย Limitations of the study
This study was constrained by a number of factors which are as follows:
just like any other research, ranging from unavailability of needed accurate materials on the topic under study, inability to get data
Financial constraint , was faced byย the researcher ,in getting relevant materialsย andย in printing and collation of questionnaires
Time factor: time factor pose another constraint since having to shuttle between writing of the research and also engaging in other academic work making it uneasy for the researcher
Operational definition of terms
